To us, the pursuit of Christ happens in a Gospel-centered, Bible-saturated, Prayer-filled,
Spirit-empowered, Mission-driven environment.
At Crosspoint, we aim to be:
-
Gospel-Centered
Every human life has a center, that which motivates all decisions. When we speak of a person who lives a gospel-centered life, we mean that person has believed the gospel of Jesus Christ and has made the death and resurrection of Christ the very foundation of his or her life. This person’s heart reveres Christ as Lord and is “prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have” (Luke 14.26-27; 1 Peter 3.15)
-
Bible-Saturated
Being Bible-saturated means we will turn to the Bible for the whole of our lives. As we live in pursuit of Christ, for the glory of Christ, it is paramount that we hear from God in and through His word. In the Bible we see God’s promises that give us hope, peace, rest, satisfaction, and joy. We trust and affirm that God’s word gives us life. (John 6.68; John 12.15; 2 Peter 1.16-21)
-
Prayer-Filled
We believe that prayer is to be the center of all we do. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of prayer, and He has one objective – to glorify Christ (John 16:14), not people, man-made enterprises, or evangelical strategies. Prayer is our resolve and dependency on Christ alone for everything. We believe in consistent private and church-wide passionate prayer. (John 16.14; Acts 4:23-31)
-
Spirit-Empowered
We believe that Spirit-empowered living comes as a result of being Spirit-filled and Spirit-led. The Holy Spirit is the catalyst for sanctification and seeks to produce His fruit in the believer’s life as their minds are renewed and they are conformed to the image of Christ. We believe the Holy Spirit’s presence and empowerment in our lives will enable us to live the life to which Jesus has called us. (Matthew 28:20; Luke 11:13; John 3:1-15)
-
Mission-Driven
God is a sending God, a missionary God, who has called His people, the church, to be missionary agents of His love and glory. We believe God is active in the world and is pursuing the redemption and reconciliation of all creation. God has a mission, and His mission has a church. To be mission-driven means we have joined God in His mission. Everything we do is God’s mission which is to reconcile all things to Himself for the glory of His name. (John 20:21; Matthew 28:18-20).
-
We exist to see the whole Gospel transform the whole person into a fully devoted follower of Christ.
-
We want to glorify God by being a church from everywhere to everyone; Seeking first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness both in the home and in the public square.
-
Biblical Authority: We believe that the Bible (the sixty-six books of the Old & New Testaments) is the word of God. ‘All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness’ (2 Timothy 3:16).
The Trinity: We believe that there is one living and true God, eternally existing in three persons, that these are equal in every divine perfection, and that they execute distinct but harmonious offices in the work of creation, providence, and redemption. (Matthew 28:19-20; 2 Corinthians 13.14)
God the Father: We believe there is one true and living God. This God is the God of the Bible, who identifies himself by name as “I am.” We believe that this God is the creator of the universe and sustains our world and our lives to this very day. We believe that He concerns Himself mercifully in the affairs of all people, that He hears and answers prayer, and that He saves from sin and death all who come to Him through Jesus Christ. (1 John 3.1; Matthew 6.6; Philippians 4.20)
Jesus Christ: We believe in Jesus Christ, God’s only begotten Son, conceived by the Holy Spirit. We believe in His virgin birth, sinless life, miracles, and teachings. We believe in His substitutionary atoning death, bodily resurrection, ascension into heaven, perpetual intercession for His people, and personal visible return to earth, very God and very man. (John 1.1-14; Acts 2.22-36; 1 Peter 1.18-23)
The Holy Spirit: We believe in the Holy Spirit who came forth from the Father and Son to convict the world of sin, righteousness, and judgment, and to regenerate, sanctify, and empower all who believe in Jesus Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit indwells every believer in Christ, and that He is an abiding helper, teacher, and guide. Concerning spiritual gifts, we believe that the Spirit of God has given and does continue to give gifts to men and women for the glory of God’s name and the edification of His Church. (1 Corinthians 3.16; John 14.26; John 15.4-15; 1 Corinthians 12)
Humanity: We believe that human beings were created by an act of God as taught in Genesis 1 and 2. We believe that God created male and female in His own image, and for His glory. As such, human beings of every ethnicity, age, ability, as well as the pre-born deserve dignity, protection, honor, respect, and Christian love. We also believe humanity chose to rebel against God, and therefore all people are under condemnation. We believe that those who repent of their sins and trust in Jesus Christ as Savior are regenerated by the Holy Spirit, and saved from condemnation. (Genesis 1:26-28; Romans 1.18; Romans 3.23; Ephesians 2.1-3; Psalm 139:13-14; Colossians 3:12-14)
Salvation by Faith Alone: Salvation is initiated and completed by God and received by faith; that those who trust Christ as Savior receive forgiveness and are born again by the Spirit, passing from spiritual death unto eternal life. We believe that God desires all men and women to be saved. We believe that apart from the effectual work of the Holy Spirit, no one would respond in saving faith to Christ. We believe that the Holy Spirit does this saving work in connection with the presentation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We believe all who are born again by the Spirit are assured of their salvation and this assurance is based upon the promise of God in His written Word. This saving faith produces love and obedience within us (John 3:1-18; Rom. 5:1-5; Eph. 2:4-10; Titus 3:4-7;2 Peter 3:9)
Baptism and Ordinances: We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ has committed two ordinances to the local church: baptism and the Lord’s Supper. We believe that Christian baptism is the immersion of a believer in water into the name of the triune God. We believe that the Lord’s Supper was instituted by Christ for commemoration of His death. We believe that these two ordinances should be observed and administered until the return of the Lord Jesus Christ. (Matthew 28.18; 1 Corinthians 12.13; Matthew 26.26-28; 1 Corinthians 11.23-27)
Christian Conduct: We believe that Christians should live for the glory of God and the well-being of others; that their conduct should be blameless before the world; that they should be faithful stewards of their possessions; and that they should seek to realize for themselves and others the full stature of maturity in Christ. We believe Christians are called to holy living in obedience to the Word of God, to put away sinful desires and cultivate and bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit. (Gal. 5:16-25; Col. 3:1-17, 2 Tim. 3:14-17, 1 Peter 1:15)
The return of Christ: We believe in the personal and visible return of the Lord Jesus Christ to earth and the establishment of His kingdom. We believe in the resurrection of the body, the final judgment, the eternal felicity of the righteous, and the endless suffering of the wicked. (1 Cor. 15:19-58; Phil. 1:20-23; 1 Thess. 4:13-18; Rev. 20:11-15)
The Church: We believe in the universal church; a living spiritual body of which Christ is the head, and all regenerated persons are members. We believe in the local church, consisting of a company of believers in Jesus Christ, baptized on a credible profession of faith, and associated for worship, work and fellowship. We believe that God has laid upon the members of the local church the primary task of giving the gospel of Jesus Christ to a lost world. (Rom. 12:4-19; 1 Cor. 12:1-27; Eph. 4:1-16)
